چکیده

The small x behaviour of the structure function h1(x,Q ) is studied within the leading logarithmic approximation of perturbative QCD. There are two contributions relevant at small x. The leading one behaves like ( 1 x ) i.e. it is just a constant in this limit. The second contribution, suppressed by one power of x, includes the terms summed by the GLAP equation. Thus for h1(x,Q ) the GLAP asymptotics and Regge asymptotics are completely different, making h1(x,Q ) quite an interesting quantity for the study of small x physics. Dedicated to Professor Wojciech Królikowski. On leave of absence from N. Copernicus Astronomical Center, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland. The chirally-odd twist-3 distribution function ea(x) in the chiral quark-soliton model

The chirally-odd twist-3 nucleon distribution e(x) is studied in the large-Nc limit in the framework of the chiral quark-soliton model at a low normalization point of about 0.6 GeV. The remarkable result is that in the model e(x) contains a δ-function-type singularity at x = 0. The regular part of e(x) is found to be sizeable at the low scale of the model and in qualitative agreement with bag m...

Collins Effect in SIDIS and in e+e− Annihilation

We review the present understanding of the nucleon transversity distribution and Collins fragmentation function, based on Ref.[1], and discuss how Drell-Yan experiments will improve it. 1. Introduction. The chirally odd transversity distribution function h a 1 (x) cannot be extracted from data on semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering (SIDIS) alone. It enters the expression for the Collins si...

The chirally-odd twist-3 distribution ea(x)

Properties of the nucleon twist-3 distribution function e(x) are reviewed. It is emphasized that the QCD equations of motion imply the existence of a δ-function at x = 0 in e(x), which gives rise to the pion-nucleon sigma-term. According to the resulting “practical” DIS sum rules the first and the second moment of e(x) vanish, a situation analogue to that of the pure twist-3 distribution functi...

Azimuthal asymmetries at CLAS: Extraction of e(x) and prediction of AUL

First information on the chirally odd twist-3 proton distribution function e(x) is extracted from the azimuthal asymmetry, ALU , in the electro-production of pions from deeply inelastic scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons off unpolarized protons, which has been recently measured by CLAS collaboration. Furthermore parameter-free predictions are made for azimuthal asymmetries, AUL, f...
